Industrial Visit - IGTR Ahmedabad
The Mechanical Engineering Department organized an industrial visit to IGTR Ahmedabad on 28-03-2026 with the aim of providing practical exposure and industry insights to students. A total of 55 students participated in this educational visit under the guidance of faculty coordinators Mr. Sagnesh Gaikwad and Mr. Dharmil Lavingia. The visit was efficiently coordinated at the institute by Mrs. Rajeshree Shah, Admin Assistant (Grade 1), who ensured smooth execution of all activities.
The visit began with the departure of students from the campus in an organized manner, followed by their arrival at IGTR Ahmedabad. Upon reaching the institute, the students were warmly welcomed and guided to the seminar hall for an introductory session. The officials at IGTR provided a detailed overview of the institute, its objectives, and its significant role in supporting industries through advanced tool room services, training programs, and research facilities. This introduction helped students understand the importance of such institutions in the manufacturing and engineering sector.
Following the introductory session, students were taken on a guided tour of various departments within IGTR. They visited key sections such as CNC machining, tool design, CAD/CAM laboratories, and quality control units. During the tour, students observed the working of modern machines, including CNC milling and turning centers, and gained insight into precision manufacturing techniques. The experts explained the processes involved in tool making, die design, and product development, which enhanced the students’ understanding of real-world industrial practices.
One of the major highlights of the visit was the live demonstration of CNC machines and advanced manufacturing equipment. Students learned about programming, operation, and maintenance of these machines, along with the importance of accuracy and quality in production. The visit also emphasized the role of CAD/CAM software in designing and manufacturing processes, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.
An interactive session was conducted where students had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding industrial operations, career opportunities, and skill requirements. The industry experts responded in a detailed and encouraging manner, motivating students to focus on skill development and industry readiness.
The visit concluded with a feedback session and a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the IGTR staff, Mrs. Rajeshree Shah, and the faculty coordinators for their efforts in organizing the visit. Students returned to the campus with enhanced knowledge, practical exposure, and a better understanding of industrial environments. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be highly informative, enriching, and beneficial for the academic and professional growth of the students.
