Industrial Visit of Bhadbhut Barrage Project
An industrial visit to the Bhadbhut Barrage Project was organised by UltraTech Cement Ltd. on 10th October 2026 for the Civil Engineering Department students of KJIT Engineering College, Savli. A total of 30 students and 4 faculty members of the department participated in the visit.
The Bhadbhut Barrage is a major water-resources project of the Government of Gujarat, being built across the river Narmada near Bhadbhut village in Bharuch district. It is planned as a causeway-cum-weir barrage of about 1.7 km length. Its main objectives are to stop the ingress of saline tidal water into the river, to store fresh water for domestic and industrial use in the Bharuch–Ankleshwar–Dahej region, to provide flood protection through embankments, and to give road connectivity between the two banks of the river.
During the visit, the students observed the construction activities at site, including large-scale concrete and structural works, quality control practices and the safety measures followed on a major project. The representatives of UltraTech Cement Ltd. explained the role of cement in such projects, and the students interacted with them to clarify their doubts.
The visit gave the students practical exposure to subjects studied in the classroom, such as Building Construction, Concrete Technology and Water Resources Engineering, and was a successful and enriching learning experience for all the participants.
